Spectra Credit Union CEO Awarded Professional of the Year

Spectra Credit Union’s CEO, Kristin Shultz, was recently awarded Professional of the Year from the MD|DC Credit Union Association.

“Kristin has really helped position Spectra Credit Union for growth by taking on several major projects in the last year,” said Dr. Mary Kappus, Board Chairperson, Spectra Credit Union. “Under Kristin’s leadership, we rebranded to Spectra, launched a newly redesigned website, a vibrant new logo and opened a new full-service branch -- all to better serve our members. Congratulations Kristin. I am proud to be a part of the team that helped accomplish all of this.”

Initiatives included relocating the entire technology infrastructure to a more stable and secure environment, launching a new website, a new home equity program, an online business lending platform, and completing a credit card portfolio conversion.

“Through her innovation, her ability to take risks, she has led this credit union to a place we’ve never been and set us up very nicely for growth,” said Jennifer Young, Director of HR, Spectra Credit Union.

Believing that satisfied, happy employees will provide exceptional member services, Shultz has focused on building a positive and engaging work culture, embracing DEI as a core credit union value, and offering an above-market compensation and benefits package.

“Kristin has been able to accomplish so much because she has assembled a strong, motivated and competent team,” said Dr. Richard Bevilacqua, Board Member. “That is a testament to her leadership abilities.”
